One of the driving reasons behind the transition to ezyVet is to enhance and improve the client experience, including veterinary clients of their hospitals as well as their internal clients spanning faculty, students, house officers and staff. The NC State Veterinary Hospital’s existing system was developed in the year 2000 for managing the hospital and billing, but most of the patient records were on paper, with the program only accessible in-house and web apps that couldn’t write directly to the patient record. Hospital leadership knew they would need a modern-day VPM to help them train the next generation of skilled, compassionate veterinary health professionals equipped to serve the global community.

Dr Simon Roe, Professor, Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery, says we needed an VPM that is accessible and improves our workflow management, by having little to no paper and removing the cumbersome tasks that exist today. From our transition to ezyVet we are looking forward to a patient record with robust data that is accessible to the whole team, streamlined scheduling, document management, billing and communications.

“It is important to be open to change. While the old way is comfortable, the introduction of a new tool with lots of new features will likely lead to great improvements.”

The NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and ezyVet look forward to partnering together and with other university hospitals with similar interests to build a robust solution and strengthen its functionality. Dr Simon Roe says, “One of our main missions is teaching, so having a role for students in the program where they are responsible for gathering data, thinking about that information, developing plans, and being involved in the implementation of those plans is very important.”
